V Magazine and Ford Models has joined and created the “V A Model” competition in search of one grand prize winner’s model face and sorry guys, this is for ladies only. Although “V A Model” began April 13th it’s still possible to make an entry by the deadline, June 29th. To be elgibile you must be between the ages of 15 and 21 as well as 5′9” to 6” feet tall. Entering “V A Model” consists of submitting the answers to the entry forum at V Magazine’s “V A Model” link, uploading three coloured photos of yourself, and writing a brief statment no more than 100 words as to why you want and/or deserve to win the contest. Artists, here’s your last chance to enter the Artists Wanted competition, and have your work seen by the world at large. Because of the huge amount of interest this competition has gathered, the deadline has been extended until Wednesday, June 3rd. Artists and designers from over 45 different countries have participated in the competition so far. If you haven’t already joined in the dialogue, now is your final chance.
Mark Mothersbaugh, acclaimed artist and lead singer of art-rock band DEVO leads a panel of judges including Jarrett Gregory (curator at NYC’s New Museum) and Donwan Harrell (founder and creative director of Akademiks clothing) in selecting the top artist or designer to be featured at a gala reception at the Sky Room on the top floor of the New Museum in New York City. The public also plays judge – determining the most powerful medium of the moment – in an online face-off that pits art submissions against design submissions.
Along with creating opportunities for all the artists who participate, they are awarding over $11,000 in prizes.

Nike has just launched the Nike iD Royal Tournament. They are having an in-store East vs. West design competition event between February 24th 2009– March 10th2009. Everyone is invited to head over to the Nike Sportswear store on 21 Mercer Street in NYC and The Montalban in LA to put thier creative juices into action and design the sickest Nike iD shoe for a chance to be entered into the design challenge. Remember, only in-store submissions will be accepted with the finale taking place on 11th April 2009 at the 21 Mercer Street store. There isn’t long left for your chance to enter; you must represent for the female sneakerheads! 2 coasts, 32 contenders and 1 champion – let’s make sure that is a female champion, you hear! On-line Japanese magazine, SHIFT is looking for a few good artists. Over the coming months they are looking for submissions for the infamous UNIGLO annual t-shirt design competition to digital media competitions and submissions for their 2009 SHIFT Calender. UT GRAND PRIX 2009
UNIQLO’s annual T-shirt design competition since 2004, the 5th “UT Grand Prix” will call for entries from July 15th.
UNIQLO has actively developed its global expansion as a casual wear brand from Japan, opening flagship stores in New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Korea and China, and also shown the global promotion campaigns that world people can participate such as UNIQLOCK and UT LOOP!
Based on the concept of “T-shirt Design Olympics”, UT Grand Prix calls for T-shirt designs from young & upcoming creators from all over the world. Works will be chosen from more than 10,000 submissions in the first and second phases of judgment, & these will be shown on the web. In the final stage, 20 designs will be selected by presiding guest judges, & these designs will then be sold as UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) at UNIQLO stores. Cash & other prizes will be also presented to the winner(s). The Grand Prix (top) prize is 3 million JPY (or equivalent in local currency at current rates).
