Les Exclusifs de Chanel is a collection of fragrances that recalls a place, moment or theme that played an important role to Mlle. Chanel’s life.  All of the fragrances are available in only one size and concentration, 200ml size of eau de toilette.  They are light fragrances that are meant to be spritzed liberally in a decadent fashion.  Existing fragrances include Gardenia, Coromandel, Bel Respiro, and 31, rue Cambon.  The newest scent in the Les Exclusifs de Chanel Collection is Beige, the neutral color that Chanel single-handedly made chic.  Chanel once said, “I take refuge in beige because it’s natural.“   Created by legendary “nose” Jacques Polge, this fragrance is everything that Chanel loved about her favorite color: it’s natural, light, elegant and sexy all at once.

While visiting the Chanel Ultra-Luxe Boutique, Ruby the sales associate, told me about Beige and how it was the newest in the series.  She also told me that most stores and the website didn’t even have it yet.  Ruby didn’t know it, but I had been on the hunt for a new fragrance for some time.   I had been wearing the same perfume, Samsara by Guerlain, since I was 18.   I’ve worn some other fragrances here and there during the past 16 years, all of them Chanel including Allure, Coco Mademoiselle and No. 5 Elixir Sensuel.   All of those scents, including Samsara, can be a bit heavy at times so I was looking for something a bit fresher. One whiff of Beige and I instantly found my new scent.  Beige is light, with notes of “hawthorne, freesia, frangipani, honey, white petals and yellow gold.”  I bought it that day in February and I’ve been wearing it everyday since.  Beige is now available in Chanel boutiques and will debut soon on the Chanel website.  The 200ml size retails for $190.

A while back I posted about how I thought Keira Knightley was not the right person for the Coco Mademoiselle ads. “Though stunningly beautiful, I didn’t think Ms. Knightly embodied the class, elegance and style of Mlle. Chanel.” I meant to add that I thought Natalie Portman would have been a better choice. I just saw this photo of Ms. Portman wearing Chanel recently and it made me think of that again. Chanel announced a while back that Audrey Tautou would be the new face of Chanel No. 5 so I guess that’s out of the question for now. We’ll have to see, but my vote for the next face of a Chanel fragrance is N.P.

A few months back we reported that Audrey Tautou would be playing the one and only Mlle. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in the film adaption of the designer’s life. Today, we just learned that Audrey Tautou is said to also be the face of the upcoming campaign and commercials for the legendary Chanel No.5 fragrance.

The actress will work with director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who directed Audrey in cult classic Amélie. She will follow in the footsteps of actress Nicole Kidman who filmed a commercial and ad campaign for Chanel No. 5 and who worked with director Baz Luhrmann who worked with Ms. Kidman in Moulin Rouge. I LOVED what they did together and I’m really excited to see what the next commercial will be like. You can view the Nicole Kidman Chanel No. 5 commercial here - I never tire of watching it!

I’m really happy with the decision to have Audrey Tautou represent Coco in the film and be the face of the designer’s signature fragrance. Especially, since I was really unhappy with Keira Knightley being cast at the face of the Coco Madamoiselle. fragrance. Though stunningly beautiful, I didn’t think Ms. Knightly embodied the class, elegance and style of Mlle. Chanel. I think the company has made up for this by choosing to work with Mlle. Tautou. You may have noticed that the Coco Mademoiselle campaign that once featured a young Kate Moss has been recently revamped with the beautiful Keira Knightley as the new face of the fragrance. Based off of the success of the Nicole Kidman Chanel No. 5 film, Chanel has created another film for the Coco Mademoiselle perfume - all filmed in Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment at 31 Rue Cambon. Chanel invited a group of international bloggers to Paris for the launch of their latest scent project, Coco Mademoiselle. Jean Aw of NOTCOT, who kindly shared images of the gorgeous Coco Mademoiselle packaging with NOTCOT readers, has a couple of posts up sharing her Chanel experience.

In her Sealing Chanel post, Jean shares amazing behind the scenes images of how the Coco Mademoiselle bottles are sealed. I love that Chanel allowed photos of the very detailed process when most companies are very closelipped about such things.

Jean Aw quickly became one of my favorite people of the week with her Chanel Proportions post. This beyond-awesome lady cracked a Chanel myth that you’re going to have to read about, in her words, to understand. The designer in me GEEKED! Check it!
