Berlin is well known for it’s amazing urban art scene and local artists, as well as artists from all over the world come here to present their work. Strolling around the city is an exciting experience and you can find art work nearly everywhere - but you had to search for it yourself - until now.
Today, adidas Originals is releasing the first mobile Urban Art Guide Berlin for the iPhone. The guide leads you through the city to a curative selection of Graffiti, Pencils, Paste-Ups and Stickers. In addition, you also get information on the artist and his piece of art.
For the launch of the adidas Urban Art Guide the artists HITOTZUKI (Kami and Sasu) from Tokyo and the artist Nomad will paint the walls of the Dice Club in Berlin. The release party will take place at Hotel Club - Michelbergerhotel located on Warschauer Strasse 39/40, 10243 Berlin, and will start at midnight featuring:
Since the launch of their first collection out of NYC in the Spring of 2008, Princess of the Posse has quickly gained worldwide recognition. This fashion forward women’s brand offers limited runs each season, creating designs that swing freely between art, fashion, glamour and street. This Spring season Princess of the Posse returns to the basics, presenting a collection showcasing the simplicity and beauty of black & white.
Here’s what Kelly has to say about the collection:
This collection was inspired by the minimalism of Berlin street fashion & the allure of French royalty. Always reflecting upon their NY state of mind, P.O.P. honors some of their favorite musicians (Santogold and Ghostface Killah) by citing lyrics that inspire the designers. Princess of the Posse continues to bring you the best in quality fabrics and silhouettes with all the printing and cut goods made in NYC.
We have a lot more with Kelly B., after the jump, including a handwritten survey and M.I.S.S. Crew Q&A!
A few years back (August 2007), I wrote a M.I.S.S. Crew Art HERstory feature on Sister Corita Kent. This lady is an absolute inspiration so I was beyond excited when I saw this video of Aaron Rose discussing Corita’s work at CircleCulture in Berlin. Rose also reported on his MySpace blog that he has a short doc on Corita in the works. I. Cannot. Wait!!!
Our girl TOOFLY just got back from Berlin where she took part in a We B*Girlz event, Hip-Hop Ladies with Attitude “So Fresh and So Defâ€? exhibit and much more and she’s got some amazing flicks to share!
