M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick and Tip of the Week: Ohhhhhhhhh…..You Can Touch This - Hair gets Hau-taaaaay at Tar-jaaaaay with L’Oreal’s Elnett, Heyyyyyyyyyy

This week’s pick is another fave I discovered at good ol’ Targaaaaaaay (Target). While browsing through the hair care aisle, a tall, gold, old school looking bottle caught my eye. I stopped to check it out, and upon closer inspection I realized it was L’Oreal’s Elnett, the keeper of elegant European hairstyles, which has not been available in the U.S. until recently, as L’Oreal has introduced this more ozone friendly American version in order be in accordance with the U.S. government’s environmental laws.

I like to think of Elnett as the chic version of Aqua Net. The hairspray’s packaging boldly states, “Disappears at the Stoke of a Brush”, which is no lie. Elnett gives your hair a very touchable hold, similar to Bumble and Bumble’s Does it All Hairspray (one of my classic faves), but delivers just a tad bit more hold (sort of like insurance, which ALWAYS gives me more confidence), while also protecting it from humidity, and infusing it with body and volume, a very European quality, and therefore slightly more glamorous than its American contemporaries. The color-treated hair formula contains a UV filter to protect hair from sun damage and fading, which is GREAT FOR ANYONE WITH CHEMICALLY TREATED HAIR, and/or for those that spend a lot of time outdoors.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick of the Week: Snackalicious – Get Your Health on Target with Archer Farms Organic Fruit Strips

I’m hypoglycemic, so in order to avoid feeling dizzy and spaced out, I have to eat a lil’ something something every three to four hours. So when I was in Las Vegas for the trade shows last month with M.I.S.S., I was excited to know we were gonna hit up the local Target, or Tar-jaaaaay, as I like to call it, to load up on some portable munchies. And after sampling a variety of the Archer Farms snacks, all tasty goodness, some very healthy and then some not so healthy, I discovered my new favorite healthy snack to go, Archer Farms Real Fruit Strips.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick of the Week: The ZENOphiles - Zealously Zit Zapping with ZENO’s High Tech Gizmos

This week’s pick, the ZENO Mini, was a Christmas gift from my homegirl Jen, who is an electrical engineer, and who always has my back and my face too apparently in mind. The ZENO is a very cute zit zapping device that bears an uncanny resemblance to EVE from Pixar’s WALL-E, and like EVE, obliterates waste that doesn’t belong, which in this case is harmful bacteria on the surface of the skin. The ZENO uses thermal acne blemish therapy, or controlled heat, to kill the acne causing bacteria, which in turn dramatically speeds up the healing process of blemishes.

Basically you hold the tip of the ZENO, which gets very hot, (though not painfully hot), on top of the pimple for 2 ½ minutes, during which you will hear a succession of 5 beeps (beeps every 30 seconds). You apply the ZENO to the pimple 2-3 times daily or as needed. Since Christmas, I’ve used it on about 7 pimples and 4 ingrown hairs, and they have healed considerably faster than their normal timing - most of mine have completely disappeared after two applications.

The ZENO works extremely well on those large, deep rooted, painful pimples that usually seem to take forever to heal, and is great for anyone who wants to use an alternative method to treat acne besides harsh medications like Accutane, Retin-A, Benzamycin, and over the counter drying creams having little or no effect. Requires 2 AAA batteries and a replacement tip every 45 uses ($18.99).

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick of the Week: Love to Love You Safely – How Planned Parenthood Can Help

This week’s pick is Planned Parenthood. Most of us are familiar with the organization, but if you haven’t actually been there, you may not realize the multitude of services they provide, including: STD/HIV Testing, birth control methods (Morning After Pill, they supply FREE condoms), pelvic exams, abortions, and treatment for men’s sexual health as well. The cost of your Planned Parenthood visit and applicable prescriptions are determined by your household income (get an approximation and find your nearest location at their website here). For instance, those that are eligible are able to receive up to a full year of a birth control method at no cost, for which you are given a Planned Parenthood membership card that links your information to your selected pharmacy. The Planned Parenthood facilities are clean, modern, and not nearly as sterile and uncomfortable feeling as most hospitals are, so you are more than likely to have a favorable experience there.

REVIEW:
Cost: $0+ (Depends on household income)

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Tip and Pick of the Week: Do It in the Shower - Two Minute Cuticle Prep that is - Tips to Optimize Your Showering Habits - Part II

This week’s tip: Do It In the Shower - Two Minute Cuticle Prep , is another time saving technique done while showering, and is inspired by my true and desperate need for a manicure. During a shower is great time to prep cuticles, since skin automatically softens from the water’s moisture, and is easily pliable. The following is a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to maintain cuticles in between nail salon visits.

M.I.S.S. Michelle’s Beauty Pick of the Week: To Find Your Mascara Mate - Take Your Lashes on a Date – Only at Sephora

Variety is the spice of life. This cliché is like the beauty world’s mantra, and is especially fitting for this week’s pick: Sephora’s The Lash Stash mascara sampler set. I was in Sephora just the other day, when I stumbled upon this product, and was so excited, I actually heard myself say out loud, “Oh my god!?

What I was oh my god-ing about is that reusable samples of these branded mascaras:

Benefit A Little Bit BADgal Lash in Black
Blinc Kiss Me Mascara in Black
LORAC Publicity Stunt Lashes in Black
Smashbox Bionic Mascara in Black
Stila Multi-Effect Mascara in Black
Sephora Brand Lash Plumper in Black
Too Faced Lash Injection in Black

have been non-existent up until now. In the past, you either just had to buy a tube of an unfamiliar brand of mascara and pray you would just absolutely love it, so your twenty something bucks didn’t go to waste, and/or you didn’t have to waste anytime going through the trouble of returning the damn thing.

This sampler set comes with 7 units of mascara in adorably small, sample sizes and is great for anybody, like myself, who likes the individual look of certain mascaras on different occasions, or is looking to test which mascara she likes best of these brands. I call it mascara dating. May the best wand win!

REVIEW:
Price: $28
Value: Good
