Nick Knight Shoots Bottega Veneta A/W 08-09 Campaign

Monday, July 14th, 2008

We’ve been following Nick Knight’s impressive work for some time now from his “White Wedding” campaign for Agent Provocateur to Nike’s “Art of Football” competition.  Knight’s most recent work includes shooting the new Autumn/Winter 2008-09 campaign for Bottega Veneta, a brand known for working with artistic photographers including Annie Leibovitz and Philip-Lorca de Corcia.  When asked how Knight was chosen as the campaign’s photographer,

Bottega Veneta’s creative director Tomas Maier chose Knight for his “sense of adventure”, explaining that: “Nick emphasises the process of creating images, which is similar to the way I approach design.”

As Nick Knight is known to do, the images are “digitally manipulated to create a striking composition that hints at a narrative” and can be see online this fall along with a short video.

Nike and SHOWstudio have teamed up to create an art exhibit and competition around the theme “Art of Football” and have invited 11 artists to create new work around the theme. The Art of Football pieces will be displayed in June during Art Basel, the prestigious international art exhibition that takes place in Basel, Switzerland. The artists chosen include, among others: Gareth Pugh, Alice Hawkins, Solve Sundsbo and Rebecca and Mike. Nike and SHOWstudio have opened up the game to the public, allowing anyone to submit artwork inspired by the game of Football. The eleven best entrants will be judged and have the chance to display their work alongside the other artists selected for the project. If that were not enough of an honor, the winning entrant will also have their work immortalized on a limited edition set of Nike Dunks. Visit the site for more info on how to enter and may the best artist win!
