Agent Provocateur, puts together some of the most innovative, beautifully made interactive experiences from White Wedding (created by Nick Knight) to their new collection, Pirate Provocateaur. Inspired by pirates plundering booty at sea, the Pirate Provocateur collection features lingerie pieces in black with splashes of red. The collection leather hot pants, to structured corsets and lacy slips. The website was updated, complete with mini interactive film where you get to choose your way throughout the story. It features naughty pirates clad in sexy Agent Provocateur lingerie. Kate Moss is not the face of this campaign, instead, Helena Christensen is playing her “wicked games” for AP this season. The collection is beautiful, and as always, I want it all. I also really admire the way they market each campaign - it’s more than just pretty pictures. They find great models and celebrities to be the face of their campaign, and AP always pushes the edge of technology. View the Pirate Provocateur story here and check out a preview of the film and my favorite pieces after the jump.

I would never wear bras or jewelry if I didn’t have to, but like the other, they both provide a sense of adornment I can’t resist, and since October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this week’s picks are dedicated to what I call Bra-tras, and along with these are my top three favorite bra picks. Also, check out my post on how to properly fit a bra, and my Bra-tra picks from last year too.

With INSA’s recent release of the INSA-Heels we had the chance to catch-up with him and chat about all things heels. From his initial interest in heels to confirming it is actually a fetish or not we dig deep and get intimate with Mr. INSA. See our original editorial spread of the INSA-Heels here.

Custom heels from Insa’s first solo exhibit in 2005 ‘Insa’s Graffiti Fetish’
When did your fascination with women’s heels begin?
Well I started painting heels about 5years ago. It began when I noticed I could spell my name in the shapes of high heels! After a bit I started to just focus on the heel itself as I realized what a power symbol it is.

Insa gets up: INSA-Heel poster in Nottingham
What is it about heels that inspires you?
So much about heels inspires me- the shape of the object itself, the effect it has on a woman’s posture. The fact they represent so much to many different kinds of people- money, power, sex, fashion, the battle between male and female sexuality, dominance and submission, fetishism, consumer obsession.

We’ve been following Nick Knight’s impressive work for some time now from his “White Wedding” campaign for Agent Provocateur to Nike’s “Art of Football” competition. Knight’s most recent work includes shooting the new Autumn/Winter 2008-09 campaign for Bottega Veneta, a brand known for working with artistic photographers including Annie Leibovitz and Philip-Lorca de Corcia. When asked how Knight was chosen as the campaign’s photographer,
Bottega Veneta’s creative director Tomas Maier chose Knight for his “sense of adventure”, explaining that: “Nick emphasises the process of creating images, which is similar to the way I approach design.”
As Nick Knight is known to do, the images are “digitally manipulated to create a striking composition that hints at a narrative” and can be see online this fall along with a short video.

Agent Provocateur just released their new swimwear collection to keep you looking sexy poolside or on the beach. The swim suits evoke a very glamorous time, and have a retro, 1940s look to them. They’re the kind of suits I could see in an old synchronized swimming movie but much more modern, and in true AP fashion, much sexier. The details are great like the chain/charm details, ruching in all the right places, halter necklines, contrast prints (leopard!), bows, ruffles and even arm bands (think old Chiquita Banana). Now I just need to find a swimming cap to match! You can purchase the swim suits online.

Left: Image from Donna Karan Fall ‘08 Campaing featuring Kate Moss, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Right: Interior shot of Union Street Station.
People cannot get enough of Kate Moss. Her face is emblazoned on many a t-shirt and she’s been the face of a number of companies including David Yurman, Rimmel, Agent Provocateur, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and YSL, along with having her own line at Topshop and her own fragrance. This fall she will also be the face of Donna Karan’s Fall 2008 collection which brings to life “the glamour of the Orient Express.” The campaign was shot in LA’s beautiful, historic Union Street station and is about “the woman on the go.” I think Kate Moss is a beautiful style icon but I wonder if consumers will ever get tired of her, or can distinguish between the products she promotes? At what point is it confusing for consumers to see the same face repping everything from Topshop to YSL? Is there any confusion of brands, messages and styles? Does this generation need a new icon/role model that is more than just a pretty face?
