Gap, Inc is looking to expand their designer collaboration portfolio tapping Stella McCartney to design a capsule collection for the GapKids and babyGap sector. The line will hit store late 2009 and be sold in select stores in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, France Ireland, and Japan. It will also be available online in the US. The Gap operates 3,100 stores in the aforementioned countries with plans to increase thier international reach through franchise agreements in the Far East, Latin America, the Middle East, and across Europe.
“For years I’ve wanted to create a collection for kids,” she said. “It’s something I’ve often been asked about. I believe that this one-off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand. I believe that kids’ clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment, given the current climate.”
The McCartney brand currently generally carries women’s ready-to-wear, footwear, bags, fragrances, eyewear, accessories, and Care skin care. In the past, McCartney has worked with H&M and is in her second season with her adidas by Stella McCartney line. The H&M release drew a frenzy among the young fashion set. The adidas line proves that she can deliver both performance and function. The design house has been operating since 2001 in a joint venture with the Gucci Group.
Khaki’s and cotton shirts will never go out of style, we just need a little reminder sometimes. The Gap lured in this years CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominees, which include Alexander Wang and Vena Cava, to recreate the classic khaki fabric. This is the kind of retail innovation we like to see! Expect that to hit stores June 16th.
A couple months back we told you about Sneaker Freaker’s First Lady MAFIA’s new gig blogging over at The Vine. She’s been informing and entertaining us for a minute now, especially when it comes to giving the ladies as much of the spotlight as the guys.
This week she’s compiled a list of her fave female sneaker collabs so far - and you know if MAFIA’s a fan of these they gotta be the goods! The list names none other than the Pro Mama along with some of the best in the game – LA Gear X Club Zonder Filter, MOB X Colette X Reebok, Fafi X Adidas Adicolor W2 and the Nike Blazer X Claw Money.

Considering the way this economy is (still) going, I don’t get the chance to really get my shop on the way I used to. So when I got the opportunity to visit the adidas store in Soho for an event featuring the Shaman Work recording artists, I was pretty ecstatic. The public event, which was from 4-7 PM on April 23rd, was a casual opportunity to listen to some jams and shop around without being pestered by store employees.
The featured DJ at the public event was DJ 2-Tone Jones who, ahem, was sorta cute and reminded me of a cross between Pigeon John and John Legend with a few more freckles added in the mix. He played classics like The Roots’ “Dynamite!” and Common’s “U, Black Maybe” along with a healthy dose of some other Common cuts.

In terms of the adidas collection, the Jeremy Scott pieces had me thinking “All Day I Dream About Sex.” They were so satisfying that they were literally like sex in fabric form. The Mi adidas styles were very cute and some of the men’s clothing pieces were pretty edgy for adidas so I give them points for that. But really, M.I.S.S. fans will agree that the leopard prints and crop tops of Mr. Scott are still where it’s at. The hoodie with ears and attached tail that has been featured by fashion mavens everywhere was amazing but I just couldn’t bring myself to cop a $180.00 hoodie. I ended up with the Scott leopard print tee and didn’t feel TOO much guilt afterwards. Thanks, Common.

Custom adidas kicks have been available overseas since 2006, and now, with the launch of miadidas.com, the custom service is available worldwide. Customers can interact and personalize - whether you are a serious athlete or a sneaker head, adidas is delivering a design operation for all to enjoy.
First, you choose a sport or lifestyle sneaker and then you select your color base. Next, you have the option of personalizing the tongue, inner lining, laces, and sole. Depending on the sneaker your options change. If you opt for performance you can even choose two different sizes for your left and right foot.
For this review I chose to customize a sneaker myself, so that I could share the process. I went with a TS Bounce Commander, a basketball sneaker, it’s March Madness y’all! This one was really fun to do because adidas has exclusive rights with the NBA to allow pro team emblems. Select NCAA teams are also available. The best part of designing a Bounce Commander? You can add a player quote and autograph on the underside of the lace cover! I chose Kevin Garnett’s quote “WE NOT ME!” Impossible is Nothing. Hey, I’m a Celtics girl at heart and I need these for the playoffs!

Throughout the process you can use the 360 view finder to evaluate each angle of the sneaker. There are lots of different options to define your style. In just three to four weeks they will be delivered to your front step. Score!

At M.I.S.S. HQ we were delighted to get a surprise box of Stella McCartney x adidas clothes from adidas. Tunics, dresses and leggings galore - Stella’s interpretation of athletic wear is so chic that we don’t want to wear these pieces to the gym - we’re taking ‘em to the streets! McCartney’s attention to detail is unwavering and the pieces include lots of lingerie accents that make the pieces really feminine and flattering. My favorite piece? The sweatpants!! They’re the perfect shade of grey, with ruching along the sides and the best part? They’re tear away pants so they have snaps along the sides of the leg. Check out the rest of the pieces after the jump!
