The weather’s heating up, so stow away your winter-weight bomber jacket and get stoked to meet your next must-have tee this season: one from 55DSL’s latest artist collaboration collection, dubbed the 10.55 Black Series. Italian streetwear brand 55DSL debuted the limited edition Black Series just last month, showcasing a collection of eight (mostly) black T-shirts - five for men, three for the ladies - each one designed by a different artist, each sporting a unique graphic.
While it began as an offshoot of well-known denim retailer Diesel, 55DSL is certainly carving out its own niche on the streetwear scene. The brand reins in fresh design perspectives each season, when Creative Director Andrea Rosso scours the globe in search of artists to design the next artist collaboration with 55DSL. Making the roster for Spring ‘09 are Adam Cruickshank, Design is Kinky, Dawid Kiljan, Francesca Chiani, Yo Clas!, Kia’, Mel Kadel, and Meredith Dittmar. Find out more about each of the participating artists via 55DSL’s release, where you’ll also be able to check out each designer’s tee.
55DSL’s SS09 collection is here and dripping in color - bright, fluorescent, endless color! It comes as no surprise that the collection, inspired by a surreal seaside paradise light years away from earth, looks like what clothes would after an LSD trip. “The Fifth Dimension,” as the collection is called, is meant for stylish ladies who want a “higher state of mind,” who have no problems rockin’ super wide leg denim pants, tie-dye swimsuits, fringed hem tees or neon green shorts. There are a variety of tops and bottoms that pull from sport, street, and military styles. The dip-dyed windbreaker jackets are undeniably street and the bold neon prints infuse that surf flair that 55DSL is known for. One of the best things about the collection is the different shapes, colors and finishes the bottoms come in: distressed overalls, harem sweats, playful skirts, it’s all there. Then there’s the sporty dresses and over-sized off-the-shoulder sweatshirts that make for great cover-ups on the beach or for strolling on the street.
Last week we let you know about 55DSL’s Pop-Up Shop that opened at the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. One of the great features of the shop is the revolving artwork throughout the store. Currently, the store is displaying artwork by Greg “PNUT” Galinsky who did some live art at the Pop Up Store Launch Event and there will be a new artist featured in the store in the upcoming weeks. I’m LOVING the KISS refrigerators and the black chalk board wall. 55DSL definitely did a nice job curating the space and, since it’s only there for a short time, you should check it out if you’re in the area. Check out more photos after the jump. . . Read the full story

55DSL sent us some sneaky peaks of their Fall/Winter ‘08 collection and there are so many things I want! From the grey acid wash denim, to overalls, jackets, coats and jumpsuits - I want it all!! The graphic inspiration came from hi-fidelity stereo equipment with pops of bold colors like red, turquoise and purple. The silhouettes range from ultra-skinny to super-baggy so there’s definitely something for everyone. Check out the video look book below and more pics of my favorites after the jump!
