Sweet Tater for Intermix

sweet_tater_intermix.jpg

Sweet Tater unveils its Spring/Summer ’07 collection and also presents a collaboration with Intermix . Sweet Tater is designed by Christina Kornilakis and Sarah Gregory, they are best known for their tunics and shirtdresses in seasonally appropriate fabrics including crisp cottons, soft wools, luxurious silks and rich velvets. They’re big breakthrough was in their Spring ‘06 collection, the season that brought “the magic dress?, the Grecian inspired cotton shirtdress. Operating under the motto “ena kai kalo,? in Greek meaning “one, but a good one,? Sweet Tater has since recreated the Greek Shirtdress with variations in fabric, color or length while continuing to add new styles to their repertoire. It was the Greek Shirtdress that drew in Intermix buyer Alexis Geotes and thus, Sweet Tater for Intermix.

The Spring/Summer ‘07 line consists of embroidered, gauzy and silk cottons featuring their signature Greek Shirtdress in variations and the new Greek Tunic, these two pieces will be available at both Sweet Tater and Intermix, however Intermix will have exclusive fabrics. The Angel Sleeve Tunic, created in ivory and light mauve is a silk/cotton blend exclusive to Intermix. The exclusive pieces for Sweet Tater will be the Shepherd Blouse, a feminine take on the ‘uniform’ of the shepherds who work seaside in the Mediterranean sun, this airy blouse features a voluminous sleeve, deep V-neckline with two self-buttons at the close and can be tied in the back at the empire or worn loosely and a crisp cotton voile tunic with a three-quarter length safari sleeve and wooden buttons.

Cole Haan Nike Air

To be honest with you, I never saw this coming but it really makes sense since Cole Haan is owned by Nike . Cole Haan collaborated with Nike Lab to create a state of art high heel. As a short lady, I always want to look taller in heels BUT the downside to heels are they make my feet hurt! A lot of brands like Tara Subkoff for Easy Spirit and Aerosoles strive to make their comfort shoes but I have both and they still hurt after awhile. I can’t shop in heels for a few hours like I can in sneakers. May be this is the invention we’ve all been waiting for? I’m not sure how comfortable these are (I don’t own any), but they sure convenience me that they look comfortable with the Nike Air cushioning. There are two categories, Dress Air and Casual Air , and for the working or men that luv wearing shoes, there’s the mens collection too. Prices range from $155 to $485, if anyone ever gets any…let me know how they feel. The Blanca Air Sandal in denim is pretty cute. Remember to test them out while you’re shopping haha!

Louis Vuitton X BAPE?!?!?

The March issue of W has a really interesting interview with NIGO of A Bathing Ape . Personally, my love affair with the brand started in the mid 90’s and ended as soon as the streets of America became flooded with the items, real and fake. Regardless I can appreciate a successful business and the empire and following he has created. I mean really can you imagine the money?? The article quotes Marc Jacobs , the artistic director of Louis Vuitton , as stating "I hope we’re going to do something with NIGO very soon", a la the collaborations with Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami in past seasons. The article goes on to say that "Nigo’s proposal is for a capsule line of "street cred" items for Vuitton, ranging from puffy jackets to a carrying case for turntables". No matter your love or hate for the brand, the potential of this collabo is really brilliant and gauranteed to be bananas (pun intended)!! And although the project has yet to be given the "go" just do yourself a favor and get on the wait list now and get your camping gear ready…the lines are going to be long for this one!!!

One last tid bit of info from the article is mention of a store opening on Melrose Ave. in L.A. this year as well as expand his London store and open up shop in Paris, looks like business is good!

GO International: Libertine for Target

Libertine.jpg
Photography: style.com
It feels llike a battle between H&M and Target to tap designers to do collabs with them, I haven’t heard anything about the next H&M collab yet. But Target is sure very busy, they announced that the next duo, Cindy Greene and Johnson Hartig of Libertine are set to release their capsule collection in mid-July, this time the collection will be in stores for only two months. Libertine is best known for their signature silk-screens on one-of-a kind reconstructed vintage, perhaps we’ll see some of those?
