I first encountered Hello Eliza on Instagram and loved the images of retro 80s stuff that she posted – mostly because I grew up on the same prescription of She-Ra, Punky Brewster and Rainbow Brite. I recently learned about the newly launched website (also through Instagram) and had to check it out.
Hello Eliza is a line of street wear for the ladies designed by fashion school drop-out, NY transplant Eliza Harrison. She has the privilege of actually calling her pieces street couture because all of her pieces are hand-made and produced in small quantities. She knows a thing or two about street wear having come up in the industry as the head designer of MECCA back when street wear was called Urban and was having a fashion moment.
The Hello Eliza Fall 2012 collection is called Gangland and features lots of lycra with custom prints. Leggings, crop tops, cut out dresses and fringe play a big role in the collection. My favorite pieces are the Army Jacket, hoodie and I love all of the prints, especially the NY, NY and Door Knocker prints. These are precisely the outfits you would imagine a Girl Gang would wear if members included Iggy Azelia, MIA, Nicki Minaj, Cassie, Santigold and Azealia Banks. In fact, it’s probably just a matter of time before you see one of these ladies rockin’ Hello Eliza in a music video so cut to the chase and cop the look before everyone else does. You can find Hello Eliza in the Hello Eliza web store.
