A few weeks ago, I expressed my love for Urban Decay eye shadows. This week I will focus on one of the three palettes within the Holiday 2012 collection – the Dangerous Palette.
As the name suggests – the shadows inside are dark and alluring. You also get a mini sized Lip Junkie Lip Gloss in Naked (pink nude). I love this gloss, it’s minty and slightly tingly. I am not a big fan of lip plumping glosses, as they tend to make my lips feel burned. This is a very subtle tingle and the color is a great “my lips but better” color for me.
And here’s the swatch lineup on my forearm (NC42, for reference):
Here’s a color description break-down: Gravity: deep violet shimmer with multi-colored micro-glitter; Loaded: deep metallic emerald shimmer; Evidence: deep navy blue shimmer; Deeper: deep metallic antique bronze with bronze pearl; Mushroom: warm pale grey taupe shimmer; Ace: deep blue charcoal shimmer; and Naked Lip Junkie Lip Gloss.
When I first received this palette as a gift, I was wondering how I was going to pull this off for the office. I did have to rely on some other UD shades in my existing collection to make it work but this is what I came up with:
I used Deeper on my lid, Tease (pale brown from NAKED 2 palette) as my contour shade and Mushroom as my outer-v shade. I used 24-7 Waterproof Liquid Liner, Smog (bronze with gold shimmer). I also smudge Mushroom along my lower lash line. Foxy (creamy bisque from NAKED 2) and lots of black mascara. This is new favorite look of mine but not a huge surprise since I tend to favor smoky bronze eyes for the office.
Okay so how about the deep shades?
I first drew a thick line of UD 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion (deep black matte) and then smudged with my finger. I then placed Ace on top all over my lid. I contour with Evidence as well as used it as my outer v contour. I line my top lash line again with Perversion and then smudge Evidence on my lower lash line. Complete with lots of black mascara. This is my traditional cool steel smoky eye – perfect for a night out, concerts or if you wanted to do something fun for the office for your company Halloween party.
I tried out Deeper again but this time I paired it with Loaded as my outer-v contour. I used Junkie (limited edition deluxe travel size sample size from last year).
Loaded is a shade I have most trouble with – it falls out like crazy and when I try to blend with a fluffy blending brush the color looks faded and dusty. Although it works for smudging along the lower lash line. I may reserve it for that use alone.
Here’s what Naked Lip Junkie Gloss looks like on my lips:
Lip Junkie lip gloss has definitely been under my radar. I stick only to glosses that work well on my lips. I am often weary about straying and trying other brands. I’m glad that I can add Lip Junkie to my collection. The collection consists of 14 shades ranging from nudes, red, wine to even a multi-shimmer black gloss – that I’m really curious about.
Ace and Deeper were part of the 15 yr. Anniversary palette from last year and the rest are part of the permanent collection. You get great pigment power and longevity – just make sure you use a great lid primer. The Fun and Feminine palettes contain shades that indicative to the titles. Another cool feature of this palette is that when you are done with the shades or you need a quick pouch for storage or travel. The container that holds the shadows and gloss pops out.

These Holiday palettes retail for $36/USD and can be found at Sephora, select Macy’s carrying the Urban Decay collection as well as www.urbandecay.com
**This was given to me as a sample gift, therefore you see initials carved into the palette.**
One last thing. I was born in San Francisco, raised in the Bay Area so I just wanted to say, Congratulations, SF Giants! I’ve been a fan since Candlestick Park. I am so proud to have witnessed the second World Series win since the move from NY back in 1958!
