The wedge sneaker doesn’t seem to be going away (unfortunately) with every brand that makes shoes throwing their hand at making their version of a wedge sneaker.  Note to brands: please stop.  When I received images of the new women’s Vans Classics Holiday 2012 I breathed a sigh of relief to see there were no wedges in sight.  Instead, Vans is staying true to their aesthetic and created the platform sneaker.

I can appreciate the platform sneaker because when I was partying in the 90s there was a time when every piece of footwear I owned had a heel or wedge (I later realized that I am short even in heels so I decided to opt for comfort).  At the time, I had a pair of platform sneakers and these new Vans Sk8-Hi Platforms bring back great memories.   The Sk8-Hi Platform has three-inch platform sole and is offered in three colors including traditional black leather with the classic Vans sidestripe, leopard print with a bold black sole and a silver sequin option that is second only to a disco ball. The holiday shipment of the Sk8-Hi Platform arrives this month at Vans retail locations.
