Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour Review

In an effort to give other brands a shot in the lineup on my beauty team roster, I stumbled upon a brand that I sometimes forget about – Laura Mercier.  This fall, Laura Mercier releases an 18 piece moisturizing lip color collection  – Creme Smooth Lip Colour. The formula contains olive oil and Vitamin E to moisturize and nourish lips while providing full coverage with just one simple swipe. It’s not very shiny on the lips but more of a satin finish. And good news to those that are sensitive to scents – this is unscented.

The case is a bit bulky in comparison to other lipsticks in the collection. It’s square with a metallic finish. I looks heavy but actually it’s pretty lightweight.

Yes, it picks up fingerprints very easily!

The color I chose was Dulce de Leche, a mid-tone brown the leans on the reddish-pink on my lips. This is a great nude to pair with smoky eyes, plum to traditional charcoal, for the fall. It’s also a great shade for the days when you don’t want to wear any makeup but you want something on your lips when you go grocery shopping.

And here it is on my lips (for reference I am a NC 42, for MAC and Syracuse Sheer Glow Foundation/Annapurna Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer for NARS):

This is a very easy shade to wear, especially if you are color shy. There’s a bit of slip but I still make sure I have a very light layer of lip balm before applying. I only get about 4 hours before I feel the need to reapply, which is pretty impressive since I do a lot of water and coffee drinking the first three hours in the office. Once the color settles, my lips remain comfortable. Unfortunately, I did experience some mild peeling on my lips after wearing this lipstick for more than three days in a row. Surprisingly, this is not a deal breaker for me. I really like this lipstick and I’m contemplating the next color I want to purchase.

This was bought by yours truly at my local Sephora. This is also carried in departments stores that feature the Laura Mercier brand. It retails for $26/USD. Like I mentioned above, the collection consists of 18 shades ranging from dusty roses, caramel nudes, dazzling fuchsia to seductive reds. You will be hard pressed to not find a suitable shade for your fall color cravings!
