NCLA hit the scene a little over a year ago with the release of their SoCal inspired nail wraps. After successfully bringing LA style to ladies around the world, NCLA expanded their line to include nail lacquers. NCLA high-end lacquer formulas are 5 free (no harmful chemicals!) and the colors channel a little of LA. NCLA is quickly becoming the go to line for nail aficionadas and fashionistas everywhere. Elin Dannerstedt, the founder of NCLA talked to MISS about inspirations, collaborations and what lies ahead for the brand:
What woman, besides your mom or grandmother, do you find inspirational?
Coco Chanel! Words cannot describe what she achieved and the legacy she left. Chanel is classic and will never go out of style.
When did you fall in love with getting your nails did?
My mom always told me a woman’s hands should always look clean and nice. So manis it is! I adore the endless possibilities with nails!
How did you get the idea to start NCLA?
We saw that there weren’t many options for do-it-yourself nail art and we thought to jump in and create a line of products that was different from any product available. This was last year and I still cannot believe how much we have achieved in a little over a year. It seems unreal at times!
Where do you find inspiration for each new collection?
We find inspiration in so many different places! Anywhere from Shoes, Make-up, Fashion and Architecture.
What’s your favorite NCLA color, wrap or project that you’ve worked on?
My favourite nail lacquer color is ” Pick Me Up At Melrose Place”, it is an electric purple that will make your nails pop! Regarding nail wraps, I would have to say the ” I see you” design from our collaboration with Melody Ehsani is my favorite. It is out of this world and I’m so proud of it!
Who do you want to work with?
Besides nails, my other passion is shoes and I would love to do a collaboration with Camilla Skovgaard or Nicholas Kirkwood. How amazing would it be to have matching shoes and nails? Yes please!
What’s next for NCLA?
Taking over the world one nail at a time 😉
What part running your own business is the most challenging and do you dislike the most?
What I find challenging is finding time for myself because all my time goes into the business. I can honestly say I enjoy every aspect of working. Sure, some tasks are tedious, but it’s extremely rewarding seeing all of our hard work pay off.
Any advice for ladies who are just starting out in the beauty industry or wanting to run their own company?
My advice would be to follow your dreams, stay focused and work hard!
