M.I.S.S. Techcessories: The Huawei M835 Sanctioned by Tokidoki

Why can't all phones be as vibrant as this one?

Once upon a time cell phones came in all sorts of wild colors, like blue, hot pink, gold, puke green!  It was a glorious and wonderful moment I like to call the early 2000s. Then the world became a blacker and grayer place when everyone started to shift from their colorful, teeny tiny flip phones (think Zoolander) over to the very staid and businesslike Blackberries, iPhones, and Android handsets.  Which is why, today, I’m thankful for Tokidoki.  Not because they’ve helped to bring Japanese anime style street art to the ladies of the world, but because they’ve managed to bring back color and art to a piece of technology that has gotten increasingly more boring looking over the years.

Produced in conjunction with budget cell phone maker Huawei, the M835 Sanctioned by Tokidoki is an entry level phone with students and fashionistas in mind.  This isn’t what you’d call a feature rich phone by any stretch of the imagination.  It looks almost exactly like a T-Mobile Comet and features a 2.8” QVGA display and a 3.2MP camera. Under the hood it’s running a stock version of Android 2.2, which is actually quite a few versions removed from the current one (version 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich if you prepare to blurt out dessert names).  But the specs aren’t why you’d buy this phone, oh no.  You’d really pick it up for the sweet Tokidoki themed ringtones and icons, and the graphics that are all over the backside of the phone.  While most people are stuck with their huge slabs of grey or black plastic, you’d be like those kids in The Giver bringing color back to the world.
The M835 Sanctioned by Tokidoki is available now exclusively on Metro PCS.
