M.I.S.S. Techcessories – Crowded Room App May Solve Your Valentine’s Day Woes

Crowded Room App

Dateless on Valentine's Day? Help Is On the Way

Ah, Valentine’s Day.  My least favorite holiday.  If you’re in a relationship it’s the one day of the year where you really expect your man to do something special lest he want to spend the rest of the month (or perhaps his life) being in the dog house.  If you’re single it’s the one day where you really, really don’t want to be alone eating Ben & Jerry’s watching The L Word on DVD while everyone else is out getting wined and/or dined.

Luckily, if you’re on the prowl for some Valentine’s Day lovin’ there’s an app out that that won’t guarantee a hook or anything but will at least get you pointed in the right direction.  It’s called Crowded Room, and it’s kind of like what would happen if Facebook and Foursquare met and had a baby.  Created by IAC, the same company behind dating sites Ok Cupid and (among other things),  Crowded Room helps people find, befriend, and possibly date people based on the places they check in at or plan to go to.  Once you create an account, you’ll get a personalized list of suggested people and locations based on those people’s check in history.  You can also tell where these people might go, which is intended to get you to go to those places to possibly meet up with people.

Remember those times you’d hear so and so would be at a party?  And you’d just randomly show up hoping to make out with them?  Yeah, it’s just like that.

The other thing you can do with this app is put people on a shortlist that is basically like a list of people you have “crushes” on.  Should someone you put on your shortlist also put you on their shortlist, you’ll both be notified and that’s when the magic happens.  Science has proven that when people are aware that they like each other, hook-ups are bound to occur.

Crowded Room is available free for iPhones, iPads, and Android phones.  The more the merrier.
