We’ve been hearing about Hellz’s new sister-brand Belle of the Brawl but it wasn’t until we got to Project that we got the scoop on BOTB. In case you were confused, the Hellz brand hasn’t gone anywhere – Lanie is just keeping Hellz to produce special projects and collaborations. As her customers are getting older, Lanie wanted her brand to evolve with her customers – enter Belle of the Brawl. Think of BOTB as the big sister and natural evolution of Hellz. Ok, now that we have that straight let’s get to the goods!
For Fall, Lanie was inspired by the film Tank Girl and the collection includes fun prints like dots, thunderbolts and 3-d looking frowny faces – all perfect for mixing up. The color palette is black with pops of seafoam green and a greyish-lavender and I loved seeing some pastels in the mix for Fall when everything can start to look really dreary. My favorite piece was a little bolero jacket with dramatic epaulet-style shoulders with gold chain and chiffon (made to look feathery) detail.
The highlight of the collection was the accessories. My absolute favorite was the motorcycle jacket backpack – probably one of the coolest things I’ve seen at the show. In fact, it was so good, I couldn’t take a picture because it will for sure get knocked off! Another exciting development for BOTB is the addition of shoes to the collection. No collaborations here, these are straight BOTB shoes, no chaser! Spring features cute flat styles like a bondage creeper and studded platforms but my favorites were the booties for Fall.
When you’re stuff is that innovative you have to keep photos to a minimum so I snapped some pics of the spring collection which will be shipping to stores within the next few weeks. Highlights for spring 2012 include peplums, cut-out dresses, long flowy tanks perfect for layering and Native American-inspired prints. Take a look…
