MISS Beauty Tip of the Week: Peacock Inspiration

One of my goals for 2012 is to try to style my hair in new ways. Actually, I set this goal early when I found this headband at a craft fair my husband participated in.

I never gave hair embellishments much thought, if anything I thought I was too old to pull them off. I think it was just because Christmas and New Year’s Eve was just around the corner and I was feeling festive!

I had different feather headbands to choose from but I just love this color pattern and what I automatically think if asked to describe peacock feathers.

Upon closer inspection you see  duo chrome  golden olive green feathers mixed with other taupe and cool brown feathers. You should know what immediately came to my mind right after paying for thing – eye shadow look to match!

I am so predictable, I know…So here’s a swatch lineup:

Left to Right: Verve (greige pearl shimmer)/Suspect (frosty light bronze)/Tease (cool taupe -matte) – from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, Bottle Green (dark blue-green/matte finish) – from the MAC Pro Line, Foxy (creamy beige matte) – UD Naked 2 palette and Black Jade (blackened forest green) – Chanel Le Crayon Kohl.

And all together now….

After applying my lid base (Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Lemon Drop), I apply Suspect on my entire lid (using a dense shadow brush, MAC #239) and stopping right at my orbital bone. I then apply Tease in my crease (dense blending blush, MAC #217). Using the same brush for my crease color, I apply Bottle Green as my outer-V shade. I take Foxy and apply it with my shadow brush to highlight my brow bone and soften any harsh lines from my crease or outer-v colors.  Again with my #217 brush, I applied a bit of Verve shadow just to the inner corners of my eyes – this brightens and makes my eyes look more awake and bigger. With a fluffy brush (Stila #9), I blend and soften. Finish up with Black Jade liner just 3/4 of my upper and lower lash lines. I take a densely packed pencil brush (MAC #219) and smudge the outer lower lash line and work my way to the inner corner. I take just a bit of the Bottle Green shadow with the pencil brush and blend with the eye liner on my lower lash line. I finish with about two coats of Giorgio Armani’s Eyes To Kill mascara (top lashes only).

To keep myself looking like a creepy “Toddlers and Tiaras” wannabe, I keep everything else simple – lips are kept soft with a pink brown shade (NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, Bahma and Urban Decay Lip Junkie Gloss in Naked) and a coral blush, NARS Gilda.

This feather headband caused me to buy another bedazzled headband from Old Navy…I just hope I don’t break this resolution by the end of this month.

Happy New Years everyone, have you broke any of your goals and resolutions, yet?
