If you’re anything like me, you probably ate your own body weight worth of food over the holidays and now find yourself with only 5 months standing between you and beach season. Doh! You could take the easy way out and get like…lypo or something, but wouldn’t you be much happier whipping your body into shape instead? Of course you would (right?), so it’s a good thing Nike is dropping their new Nike+ Fuelband. Nice timing, guys!
The Nike+ Fuelband tracks your every movement, but not in a Big Brother-esque way. It actually monitors your exercise routines and gives you updates on calories burned, time, steps taken, and the eponymous NikeFuel, which basically are points given to you for being active. You set an activity goal, and as you get closer to reaching that goal LED lights on the FuelBand representing your NikeFuel start to glow. All of your progress and achievements can be uploaded via Bluetooth or USB to the Nike+ website so you can easily keep track of everything and share your accomplishments with your friends. Maybe all that e-gloating will motivate them to get up off their arses and join you at the gym.
The Nike+ FuelBand was available for pre-order, but it’s currently sold out. Which means you’ll have to wait until the end of February like the rest of us suckers to pick yours up. Oh well. That just means you’ve got about a month to get your workout routine figured out.
