October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. In addition to walks and other events that happen all over the world, there is also a huge outpouring of promotions from companies all over the map who align themselves with charities and research foundations to donate portions of their profits to the cause. There’s still a week left to contribute to breast cancer awareness – here’s a round-up of our favorites:
“Boobies Are So Rad” (pictured above) – a collab from Rusty and the Keep A Breast Foundation. The collection’s limited-edition men’s and junior’s tees can be found at Pacsun, Tilly’s and other specialty retailers around the country. Every unit sold gets a $1 donation to the Keep A Breast Foundation.
Contest: Tweet a love note to the twins with a #boobiesaresorad handle; the best responses (written or video) will win “Boobies Are So Rad” merch.
Mama Mio has two campaigns going in honor of BCA month. In partnership with Butter Lane cupcakes, Mama Mio will donate $1 to Look Good…Feel Better (a cancer support charity that helps women manage the visible side effects of cancer treatments) for every limited-edition B-Cup(cake) sold. The cute (and yummy!) cupcakes are at all Butter Lane retail stores and at ButterLane.com. ($48/dozen)
Mama Mio will also donate $1 to Look Good. . . Feel Better for every purchase of Boob Tube Bust & Neck Firmer (packaged with a breast self-exam instructional pamphlet) made on mamamio.com during the month of October. ($45)
David Yurman has created a limited-edition Spiritual Bead Bracelet with Pink Chalcedony and Pearl, with 10% of the purchasing price benefitting The Breast Cancer Research Fund. Find it at David Yurman boutiques and davidyurman.com. ($375)
Sock It to Me is partnering with the National Breast Cancer Coalition with an assortment of eleven pink, funky sock designs. 50% of pink sock sales will go directly to benefit the National Breast Cancer Coalition fund.
Violent Lips has unveiled their latest collection of temporary lip tattoos (from the tutorial, it looks like they really are just like the temp tatts you had in grade school): the Pink Ribbon Line features three exclusive pink ribbon patterns. $2 per package sold will be donated to the NBCC. ($9.99/set of three)
Lacoste Home has released the “Pink Croc Collection” beach towel, complete with embroidered crocodile and 100% cotton. Available at LACOSTE boutiques and lacoste.com, 10% of the retail price will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. ($55)
Affinitas, Brulee and Second Base all have really cute lingerie for sale in honor of BCA month. Brulee’s Boudoir silk cami and shorts (with the black border) might be my favorite of the whole round-up! 25% of sales from Brulee will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 20% will be donated from Affinitas for their adorable bras and Second Base for their Demi Camis in Ballet Pink.
Honorable mention: Handy for your next lingerie-shopping tour, Natori has developed a Bra Finder App for iPhone and iPad. During the month of October, Natori will donate $1 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every app downloaded.
