Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, a.k.a. DJ Mehdi, died yesterday when the roof of his Paris home collapsed.
Working his way up the hip-hop/electro producer ranks, DJ Mehdi hooked up early with Daft Punk manager and label owner (Ed Banger Records) Pedro Winter (Busy P.). Mehdi was known for mixing hip-hop and electronic music, a genre-pushing style that has been picked up by countless mainstream artists (read: Timbaland, Missy). His list of collaborators included Cassius, Daft Punk, MC Solarr and Chromeo. He was also known for his remixes of artists all over the board, from Architecture in Helsinki to Sam Sparro.
The French DJ/Producer was 34.
