Once I saw the gold mirrored runway for Cynthia Rowley’s spring-summer 2012 runway show, I knew the show would be a hot ticket. When I noticed Lindsey Lohan ushered in to the front row seconds before the show started my thoughts were confirmed. But, even Lindsey couldn’t steal the shine from Cynthia Rowley’s spring collection.
The show was set to rock tunes including Metronomy and ended with Van Halen (how could you go wrong with Van Halen? You can’t!). The hard edges of the runway and music were a nice juxtaposition to the soft feminine looks Rowley sent down the runway. Deconstructed watercolor florals and laser cut out fabrics ruled the day and look sporty chic in an array of silhouettes including leggings, shorts, blouses and blazers. However the looks that dominated were feminine frocks. The cinched waists and full skirts were reminiscent of Dior’s “New Look” but Rowley’s fabrics and styling gave it a very modern twist. The gold booties were the perfect combination of strong and sweet and looked great with the dresses. The sleek wet hair and dewy natural makeup made me feel like I could wear these looks at the beach or Après beach.
