Mr. Miele’s collection for Spring/Summer 2012 is just what you would expect from a Brazilian designer: lots of bold colors and slinky fabrics. These outfits are perfect for a poolside lounge on a tropical island. The high points of the collection were the swirled gauzy 70’s caftans, the pops of bright orange, and the exposed-shoulder dresses.
The theme of Miele’s show, Immersive Landscape, was probably meant to suggest to viewers that the patterns of his pieces echo landscapes so mesmerizing, it is hard to look away. Unfortunately, some of the multi-colored swirled ink patterns Miele used during the show immersed me in a landscape similar to a New Jersey strip mall.
