MISS Beauty Tip of the Week: Colored Eye Pencils

Do you ever come across a really cool looking green or gold liner and think that only girls on the Roller Derby team can pull them off?

My inner roller derby girl loves this movie!

True confession – I just started wearing colored liners recently. But once I started I can’t stop collecting them. I love wearing them at night going out with my girls or on date night but I don’t just leave them for after hours.

I will wear colored eye liner during the day but in small doses just so I don’t scare my bosses or my daughter’s pre-school teachers. Also, teal makes me look more awake than a white or almond colored liner.

Here I am wearing NYX Slide On, Stay On & Definitely a Turn On Waterproof, Extreme Shine Eye Liner in Tropical Green

Aside from wearing black and brown liners, teal is the other shade I wear often. For a beachy bombshell eye look, pair it with a bronzey gold shadows and lots of black mascara.

Purple is another option that looks lovely on dark brown eyed girls!

To keep colored liners on the safe side for the office, I will pair it with peach shadow on the lid with a black gel liner on my top lash line and lots of black mascara. I didn’t wear any shadows in the pictures above to keep the focus on the colored liners. Depending on my mood this is all the color I will need.

As for lips, I go with either a coral or bronze gloss when I wear teal and I love beige or pink nude lips when wearing purple liners.

Do proceed with caution – keep the glitter bomb pencils off of your waterline. They can be abrasive and possibly scratch your eyes. I keep the glitter liners on my lower lash line and carefully smudge them with a pencil brush. Whatever color you decide to go with – remember to bring it along with you for touch ups. If you’re anything like me, or my sisters, you will rub your eyes and smear off a perfectly colored waterline!

Here’s just a few liners that I love to use regularly.

Top to bottom:

MAC Superslick Liquid Eye liner in Signature Blue (used on my top lash line only), MAC Float On By (TEAL) eye kohl, the aforementioned NYX, MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner – Designer Purple (glitter – lash line only) and Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Ransom (bluish purple).

If this something you can’t commit to but just want to try, I’d go with the NYX pencil. At $7.99 and 18 colors to choose from, you can’t go wrong.

Once you develop a love for colored liners the sky’s the limit, in terms of options. Think of it as the cosmetic equivalent to adding red shoes or clutch purse to your LBD as an accent color.
