Ever get tired of carrying around a ton of gadgets in your bag on a regular basis? Ever ponder how much space you could be saving if you could combine everything, McGuyver style, into one uber-device to rule them all? Or do you ever just wish your cell phone had a camera that could take pictures to rival the ones taken by your digicam so that maybe, just maybe, you could leave your dedicated photo taker at home?
Well, if you’re on T-Mobile, your prayers are being somewhat answered. The HTC myTouch 4g Slide’s claim to fame is its camera, an 8 megapixel affair with dual LED flash and zero shutter lag. One of the main gripes with cell phone cameras is their horrendous low light performance. The myTouch 4G Slide addresses that issue with a backside illuminated sensor and f/2 aperture lens. Other useful, camera-centric features include HDR, a panoramic photo tool, and a feature called Burst Shot that allows you to take multiple photos quickly in a row.
While the camera is definitely the star attraction on this phone, that’s not all it’s got going for it. You’ll be able to view your photos on the phone’s 3.7 inch WVGA super LCD touchscreen. And for those who have grown to hate touch screen style keyboards (me), there’s a full, slide out QWERTY style one. The phone runs on a 1.2 GHZ dual-core Snapdragon processor and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread skinned with HTC Sense 3.0.
The myTouch 4G Slide will be available later this month for $200 on a two year contract.
