1. Maxi Skirts
This is probably the easiest and most flexible of all of the trends. Maxi skirts are easy and really can work on any body type if they’re paired with the right top. You can dress them up or down. Rihanna and Ciara are definitely rocking this look more casually. It’s so easy to make everything look more stylish with a jean jacket or blazer. Shorter girls like Olivia Palermo should try the patterned type of maxi skirts to elongate their legs.
2. Color blocking
This is my favorite one! This trend really started in the spring time and it’s still going. It will definitely carry into fall but instead of bright colors there will be more earth and jewel tones. There are many different ways to color block. I love Kim’s way with the bright dress and bright shoes. Stephanie Pratt’s is probably the most practical. The key is to keep your shoes and bag/clutch a neutral color like nude, brown, black, grey, etc., if your entire outfit is going to be bright.
3. Mixing Patterns
Definitely the hardest to pull off on this list. However, don’t be scared because you never know what’s going to look good until you actually try it on. I love the way Rihanna stayed in the same color family throughout her entire outfit. The shades of grey, blue, and white unify the look. If you’re a little more daring like Beyonce and Whitney Port then go with whatever you think will coordinate.
The retro 80’s neon colors are all the rage – neons pop on any skin tone. Kerry Washington’s glowy skin is making the dress stand out. The key in neon outfits is definitely neutral makeup with lots of bronzer to finish the look. If you’re not really feeling an entire neon outfit try neon nails like Kimora Lee! You can get 6 different neon nail polishes from American Apparel .
With so many modern day hippies running around it’s hard not to mention this one. Crochet gives you an extra layer and element to your outfit yet still lets you stay cool during these summer days. Kim Kardashian definitely took it to the next level with her Crochet Chanel bag. Super haute.
The key to any trend is to make it your own! Incorporate your personal style with something you haven’t tried yet to change and spice up your look without losing yourself. You may end up really loving some of them.
