TOMS introduced us to the One for One with his shoes. TOMS shoes have become emblematic to giving and consumer activism, the idea that you can do good with every purchase. Ok, so they might not be the best looking shoes, but you do get a fuzzy feeling when you’re paying for your shoes.
This summer TOMS founder, Blake Mycoskie, is now expanding his company beyond shoes. TOMS’ new philanthropic product is TOMS Eyewear. Keeping with the One for One mission, for every person that buys a pair of sunglasses, one person will receive medical treatment, prescription glasses, or sight saving surgery.
TOMS Eyewear collection includes three styles; the wayfarer inspired Classic 101, the glam oversized Classic 201, and the Classic 301, an updated aviator frame. Each retro inspired look is finished with colorful hand-painted stripes that represent the three elements of One for One; the purchaser (giver), TOMS, and the person receiving the aid. TOMS Eyewear retails at $135 – $145 and because you go home knowing you did something good, you don’t have to find an excuse for adding yet another pair of glasses to your *cough* ever expanding collection.
