The Music Link List – 5.25.2011

♥♥ Meet Kreayshawn. She’s the latest “young, rich, and flashy” female emcee to take the world by storm. The Oakland-based rapper dropped her video for “Gucci Gucci” last week and has had the internet buzzing with curiousity and anticipation.  So who exactly is this pint sized diva in “one big room full of bad bitches”? Well for starters, we know that she definitely doesn’t rock Gucci, Louie, Fendi or Prada. Basic bitches wear that shit, so she doesn’t even bother.  I personally think the  rapper, director, DJ, swag assassin, and under-cat’s style is fresh, unique, and pretty sick!  What do you think of Kreayshawn?

♥♥ Beyoncé’s track “Until the End of Time” has been leaked onto the internetz. It’s rumored to be the next single from her forthcoming album, 4, scheduled to hit stores on June 28th. Also, we here at M.I.S.S. have always known that “girls run the world.” It looks as if B just made it official with the song and video for the Diplo-produced track. In case you missed it, check her performance from the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. She was there to pick up the Billboard Millennium Award. Epic!

♥♥ Maybach Music’s latest signee Stalley manages to stay true to his sound with the release the track “Chevys & Space Ships” as a part of “Maybach Mondays” series. The song was produced by Rashad Thomas who also worked with Stalley on his Lincoln Way Nights: Intelligent Trunk Music mixtape. It’s clear to see that these two make a great team together! Take a listen to the track below!

Lyrics Born - Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda

♥♥ Lyrics Born recently released a video for “Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda” from his recent album, As U Were. The groovy, disco-rap jam features Sam Sparro and definitely evokes a Soul Train vibe. Check out the nostalgic video below!

J. Dilla's "Donuts" Vinyl: New Sleeve

The Stones Throw release can be found exclusively at Urban Outfitters through summer & fall 2011. The original release that features the Jeff Jank drawing for the cover will eventually run out of print, but a few copies are still available at Stones Throw Online Shop.

IDK if i can do the Kreayshawn thing. Everyone is talking about her – and i see it but after Uffie and Amanda Blank and whoever else i liked and now have forgotten i think i am over this. I also could just be hating since I work a 9-5 while she rolls with her friends on Fairfax – totally possible.

Yeah, I agree. The chorus is catchy I admit and I like how she’s a Bay Area native from my city, but idk if I can stand her voice in general.

Yanna – I won’t lie. Kreayshawn’s sound totally had to grow on me. I had to listen to the song a few times before I wasn’t completely annoyed by it. At the end of the day, it’s catchy and people like catchy. However, I agree with you. The true test will be seeing if she is able to keep her name relevant.

I started “following” Kreayshawn sometime 2 years ago – I found her on Tumblr and immediately was drawn to her crazyness. Not sure if I LOVE her music, but I definitely enjoy seeing her photos and watching her videos.
