MISS Techcessories: Touch the Blackberry Bold 9900

Blackberry Bold 9900

The boldest Blackberry yet?

Oh Crackberry faithful.  I know you’ve been sitting there biding your time as Apple’s various iPhones and Google’s overabundant Android sporting devices have encroached upon your once sacred territory.  iPhone and Android supporters have probably been like, “Hey, stop using that Blackberry, get a new phone and play Angry Birds with me all day!”  And you’ve probably been like, “Nah dawg, screw Angry Birds.  Do you have BBM?!  Didn’t think so.”  To which your friend replies, “Big beautiful manatees?”  Anyway, RIM finally seems to be serious about dethroning it’s competition, introducing what may be the one Blackberry to rule them all: the Blackberry Bold 9900.  Living up to its name, this new Bold sports a striking new design that takes familiar Blackberry cues and evolves them a step further into something beautiful and lust worthy.  A stainless steal metal band runs around the circumference of the phone while the backside is covered in fiberglass.  Up front you’ve got the revered Blackberry keyboard and a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen. At 10.5mm thick, it’s the thinnest Blackberry ever.

All that beauty would be for nothing if it didn’t improve on everything Blackberry users have come to love and expect.  Inside you’ve got a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor powering the new performance driven Blackberry 7 OS (which provides faster web browsing and voice activated search among other things), 4G connectivity, 8GB internal storage (with microSD expansion),  There’s also a 5 megapixel camera around back capable of HD video recording, but there isn’t a front facing camera which is a bit of a disappointment in my eyes.  And, as always, you’ll get the usual Blackberry features everyone rants and raves about, including email and the precious Blackberry Messenger.

Expect this to drop on some carrier, at some price, sometime over the summer.  Perfect for when you go on your next work related vacation.
