Everyone should know by now that Japan is the land of overbearing adorableness. How else can you explain the never ending popularity of Hello Kitty, or the fact that you can ride a plane adorned with Pokemon characters, or these ridiculously cute Japanese police force mascots? Not sure how you’re supposed to feel protected by someone riding around with an anthropomorphic otter on their car, but hey…Seeking to cash in on the kawaii craze, Panasonic has released the Lumix FX77, the world’s first digicam with built in beautification features.
You ever just been like fudge it and rolled out of bed and gone out the house with your hair looking jacked up, your teeth unbrushed, and your smelling like mushrooms dipped in sulfur (don’t lie)? This may not normally be cause for concern, but what if you happen to urn into an old flame, and they want to take pictures of you with their high resolution DSLR? Blammo! Next thing you know you’re rancid mugs splatted all over every social network in the known world. However, had you had the Lumix FX77 stashed on you, it could have been a different story. Using the camera’s touch screen you can whiten teeth, increase skin translucency, remove dark circles, decrease facial size and magnify eye size (kind of like this). You can even digitally apply make up like lipstick, rogue, and eye. shadow. Nobody would ever have to know you came outside looking like the Unibomber.
Right now its only available in Japan for the tune of 28,800 yen ($351), but I don’t imagine the Japanese will be able to keep this technology to themselves for much longer.
