LA’s most fashionable week kicked off last Friday with Concept LA Fashion Week. They have grown into what is the staple of LAFW – a week long – 3 shows a night event of fashion that brings out Los Angeles’ writers, stylists and designers each season. I was able to start off the festivities with Science and Numbers.
I arrived a little early so more or less just snuk into this show. It turned out not being a bad idea. The line was built on black, leather and straps. There was also an interesting buttoned cuff that kept popping up. The line all and all wasn’t bad. I could find a few pieces to pull out and rock. The real let down here came from the models. Maybe it was just day one jitters but their walk and facial expressions were just painful. The line could have used a little boost from some really good models, with out it it came off as average and unfortunately what critics would expect from LAFW.
Some of the high notes came in the tune of mess tanks, leather biker jackets, lose fitting rompers. Maybe not ideal for a NY fall but in LA, fall can mean a lot of things. The shoes were also very fitting for the outfits and added some much needed flare to the other wise black and white. I would say not my favorite show from the weekend but not a bad start!
