You’re invited to the Oscars, literally!
To promote interest in the 83rd Academy Awards, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will launch an interactive Oscar-themed sidewalk display in New York City. This one-of-a-kind display will allows people to find out what it feels like to be part of the biggest annual celebration of Hollywood movies.
Any movie fans who live in or happen to be visiting New York City should check out this nine-linked 46-inch LCD screen display on 1333 Broadway before Oscar night.
The interactive display uses the same technology as an iPad. As you walk through the motions detectors you will get a taste of what the lifestyle of the rich and the famous feels like. First, you will be surrounded by a posse of paparazzi who are fighting to get your picture. If that doesn’t make you pass out from joy, the cherry on top of it all is that you’ll get the chance to actually pose with a virtual Oscar award. So get your speech already. And don’t forget to thank your mom.
After your “15 minutes of fame” you can e-mail your adventure to all your friends and family. It couldn’t get any better right? Wrong! On February 23rd a few lucky fans will get the chance to actually hold one of those real golden guys at the “Meet The Oscars” exhibit in Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central.
So set your iPhones and iCals or just write it on the palm of your hand but don’t forget that the 83rd Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday February 27 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
