I started New York Fashion Week off with a plunge into the blogging world by attending IFB‘s Evolving Influence Fashion Bloggers’ conference. It was a full day of back-to-back panel discussion that included a who’s who of bloggers. Topics included how to work with brands gracefully, the rise of the professional blogger, the business of blogging and who own’s your blog’s content. The day featured panels, lunch and a great gift bag with goodies from the likes of M.A.C and Juicy Couture.
I’ve been blogging for over five years but there is always much more to learn. Hearing from blogging heavyweights like Yvan Rodic of Face Hunter, Sasha Wilkins of Liberty London Girl, Karla Deras of Karla’s Closet, and MISS favorites Josh Rubin of Cool Hunting and Wendy from nitro:licious, is an opportunity that seldom comes along so I seized the opportunity to learn from the pros. The conference ended with a discussion with Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler moderated by Imran Amed, Founder of The Business of Fashion.
The following day IFB hosted a series of smaller workshops to help bloggers with everything from the basic essentials to getting press. Attending the IFB Evolving Influence conference and workshop was invaluable and I highly recommend attending the next one to anyone that is serious about fashion blogging. If you can’t attend, no problem, just join IFB and take part in the rich online resources and community that Jennine Jacob of The Coveted (the original one and only!) fame has single-handedly built.
