Fashion Editorial: Stripes and Sequins

vogue italia

In the world of fashion one thing is certain, it changes. Season by season we see fresh new faces along with new cuts, silhouettes, colors, designs, and trends. How is it then that certain trends, such as the ’70s trend of bell bottoms sees its way back in or for example, the ever so popular sequined look of the ’60s and ’70s? It’s simple. Inspiration.

A trend starts with a seed of inspiration and today’s inspiration comes from an Italian Vogue editorial, specifically Vogue Italia March 2000, shot by Steven Meisel with model Hannelore Knuts.

Here are two different looks from 200o that can easily be reworked today, in 2011.
On the left (inspiration) is a beautiful Missoni dress, along with Bulgari belt, Giorgio Armani bag and Moschino shoes.

On the right (outfit):

Kara Ross claw ring at Asos.

Suzanna Dai earrings available at Charm & Chain.
Fossil Glitz Ball earrings available at Zappos.

Inspiration number 2, is a beautiful Carolina Herrera chiffon blouse with Dolce & Gabbana skirt and shoes.

Imoshion hobo bag.
Kim Kardashian (I know, but it’s cute and it works) necklace.
Steve Madden heels.
Black lace bodysuit available at Miss Selfridge.
Woodford & Co dress available at Shopbop.

There you have it ladies. Keep in mind that the possibilities are endless! When looking at images, be inspired and make your own version of it. Don’t be afraid to step out of the norm and let your identity shine the gear! What do you think? What images or editorials have been inspiring you lately??
