What we ♥♥ love in design this week…
♥♥ “Who is this print by? Banksy? Shepard Fairey??” I hear you ask. This is no a print – it’s wallpaper. Studio Herisson believe that art is by the people, for the people – not just for the elite. So they’ve come up with a range of revolutionary wallpaper which can make any décor completely unique.
♥♥ Does Damien Hirst‘s new work, “For Heaven’s Sake”, go too far? Rumor has it the diamond encrusted baby skull was acquired from an antique Victorian medical collection.
♥♥ Just your average rubber glove? No way! This neat rubber glove is actually a sink caddy, perfect for resting you dish sponge on while you wash your dishes. Available from Not On The High Street.
♥♥ Wallpaper* Magazine has just announced the 2011 winners of their annual Design Awards. The judging panel this year included non-other than Pharrell Williams, and Designer of the Year went to Thomas Heatherwick, acclaimed designer of the brilliant UK Pavilion (above) for the Shanghai Expo 2010. See all the winners at Wallpaper*.
♥♥ The humble tea towel is arguably the most overlooked of all kitchen essentials. Except if you’re part of the To Dry For crew – because their tea towels are at the top of the menu. Check out their delicious range of twisted tea towels – including Tea-Rex and Mister Tea – that are so cool, you’ll hardly want to dry your dishes with them.
