As you know, last week, I was obsessing over party dresses. Thinking about fun, beautiful dresses during the holidays has also made me think about sparkly things (mostly because holiday dresses have sparkle in them, or are accented by something sparkly). Seriously, what’s not to love about sparkly things? It catches the eye and brightens your day (I’m not sure it would be possible to have a bad day while you’re wearing a sequined skirt). I know when I’ve worn some of my sparkle pieces out in public, I’ve had a lot of fun and walked with a bit more confidence. With New Year’s right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how to add some sparkle into your wardrobe.
It seems like everywhere I look, there’s a sequined skirt, tank, jacket, or dress that has caught my attention. When searching for potential party dresses for my holiday party, I stared at this sequined tank top by William Anzevino at Urban Outfitters for a good while before continuing the hunt for a dress. While flipping through Vogue, I was distracted by Gap’s holiday ad, which featured this sequin skirt. I love that they paired it with some neutral grays and blacks to inspire you beyond the holiday spirit has left your closet. Then I discovered Spanish actress Maria Valverde wearing this Hoss Intropia sequined jacket in Vogue Spain while I was looking for a sequined jacket that wasn’t your ordinary jacket. There’s so many options out there, it’s difficult not to get distracted by all the shine and sparkle!
If wearing big pieces of sparkle isn’t necessarily your thing, there are plenty of other ways to get a little dazzle into your wardrobe. Glam up your favorite cardigan with this superskinny glitter belt at J. Crew. Add some color to your smoky eye collection with Dior’s holiday eye palette (that sapphire blue is to die for!). Treat your hardworking hands and feet to a mani/pedi featuring Chanel’s Le Vernis Steel. Once your nails are looking their best, don’t forget to accent them with a gorgeous cocktail ring! I love gray pearls, so this gray flower ring from Kara Ross is right up my alley (and on my “one day I’ll own this” list). I’ve also developed a rather large obsession for cuffs lately and this Erickson Beamon supernova cuff is something I just might dream about. It’s edgy with just enough of a feminine touch.
Last and certainly not the least, don’t forget about your feet. I found these Calvin Klein Carley pumps on sale and have found them quite easy and comfortable to walk in (I am also a sucker for a square vamp on a shoe). I also fancy these gold snakeskin Pour La Victoire heels. I don’t have the words to describe how much I want these Jimmy Choo Private Cuff Glitter Fabric sandal. Santa, baby, please leave those under the tree for me! Until that happens this Steve Madden Haylow sandal will serve as a good alternate.
How will you add a little sparkle to your holiday? Whatever you do, make sure you have fun doing it!
Until next week (and my next obsession)!
