Thursday night the Shore Ultra Lounge in Long Beach opened its doors for the event “You Can’t Handle the Youth” a collaboration of visual artists and young entrepreneurs to showcase their talents. The event was relaxed, attendees walked around before the runway show to view art, enjoy the local DJs and bid on the silent auction. There was also a small vendor area with an interesting variety of products ranging from hair accessories to dog skates. Everything culminated to the main event, a runway show featuring Char Pack’s lines Moxi Streetwear and Dirtysix.
The two part show kicked things off with the Moxi line. The roller derby inspired line consisted primarily of relaxed sports wear, boy shorts and roller skates. It was fun to see the models, comprised of the Long Beach Roller Derby team, work the cat walk in roller skates.
The Dirtysix collection consisted of fun street wear with a preppy-punk meets retro 60’s appeal. The line included leggings paired with long cardigans, full skirts, ripped tights and shirts, bold checkers, grunge plaid and bright colors. The collection pulled from many different sources and seamlessly brought those worlds together in a laid back show.
The Dirtysix “Seasonless collection” is current without being a replica of what we see every day. With models in beehives and red lipstick rocking letterman jackets and leggings or in short coveralls, the collection seems fitting for every season.
