Just like that rabbit had to have his Trix (knowing full well they were for kids) and kids in the 90s had to have their Pops, some people just can’t go on living anymore with clutching a Blackberry in their palm. The beloved Blackberry Bold, best friend to Blackberry clutchers across the world, is once again getting an update in the form of the Blackberry Bold 9780. Despite the name, this new Bold isn’t a bold departure from the one’s that came before it; save for the new, 5 megapixel camera and optical trackpad, you’d be hard pressed to tell it from the Bold 9700 that preceded it. However, like most RIM produced phones, it’s what’s on the inside that counts here. The Bold 9780 is the first Bold to run the new Blackberry 6 operating system, the one that new user interface, universal search, a wide range of communications capabilities, and a web browsing experience that actually doesn’t suck (really!). It’s also 3G and Wi-Fi enabled, allowing you to make calls over Wi-Fi depending on the carrier, and there’s a built in GPS as well for location based apps. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Blackberry if it didn’t include all the things Blackberry owners have grown to love over the years. Things like email, Blackberry Messenger, Social Feeds, and integration with Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace (in case you haven’t got the memo by now, we off that).
The Bold 9780 will be launching initially on T-Mobile on November 17th for $130 with (what else?) a 2 year contract.
