Fellow Georgian James Brown once proclaimed ‘It’s a mans world.’ Well James, that may have been the case in prehistoric times but in 2010 its all about the ladies. Being the tomboy I am I adore men’s fashion. I literally drool on the pages of GQ magazines. Now, I don’t dress 100% male. I take aspects of menswear trends and girl them up. One such trend that’s making a comeback in wide-leg trousers. Once upon a time ladies couldn’t wear pants at all! Not the case anymore. We’re wearing 2 leg bottoms and they look hot!
When I think of wide-leg pants my mind immediately goes to Farrah Fawcett and Charlie’s Angels. Those chicks had on the widest pants in the game and kicked ass in them! Big hair, flowing blouses, and pants legs as wide as Nicki Minaj’s rear. Sultry!
The wide-leg trend overtook Fashion Week runways. These britches were featured in the shows of Yves Saint Laurent, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, and Zac Posen. The various designers did a great job of showing the versatility of the wide-leg trouser. Whether paired with a vest, blazer, blouse or sweater the wide-leg pant is sure fire way to gain attention.
When choosing the perfect pant for you, do your best to find a pair that fit in the waist. You’re a lady. Give the guys a sneak peek of the curves. A fitted waist upgrades the glam to any pant. When it comes to tops I’m a fan of fitted ones. I think a tucked-in free-flowing blouse accompanied by a floppy bow at the neckline is an all around winner in my book. The look also comes together nicely with a fitted sweater. As far as outerwear, you can go over sized there. Don’t let the outermost piece hang lower than the cheeks though. It makes you look frumpy. Shoes are a no brainer. Heels are a must! You’re wearing wide leg pants for Pete’s sake!
