Whether he’s touring oversees or spinning records for one of his infamous “Funkmosphere” parties in L.A., Damon “DâM-FunK” Riddick still always finds the time to hit the studio and crank out sexy, spaced-out, electro-funk jams that keep the crowd moving! Ladies and gentlemen, DâM-FunK is a man on a mission! His mission is update, revitalize, and keep alive the genre of “Boogie Funk” music made popular by such acts as Parliament, The Gap Band, and Zapp. With the release of his debut album, Toeachizown back in 2009, the man known as Los Angeles’ “Ambassador of Boogie Funk” has shown the world that he is the real deal and a force to be reckoned with.  His latest project, “Adolescent Funk” is just another example of how talented this man is and the promising future that lies ahead.

DâM-FunK’s “Adolescent Funk” is a 14-track album recorded between 1988 and 1992. At the request of Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf, DâM-FunK went back as far as his teenage years and came up with several unreleased recordings that showcased his developing taste and growing sound. Most of the songs were recorded on cassette tapes and feature DâM using several pieces of electronic equipment that were not considered mainstream at the time. The coolest part about this project is that we able to get a glimpse at the musical roots of DâM FunK and origins of his funky sound.

“Adolescent Funk” will be released October 26 on LP, CD and digital through Stones Throw Online Store . Two tracks, “It’s My Life/I Like Your Big Azz (Girl)” were released on 7-inch earlier this year. You can download “I Like Your Big Azz (Girl)” for free courtesy of Stones Throw Records. DâM-FunK sure knows how to swoon the ladies! The cover art alone for “Adolescent Funk” is reason enough for me to purchase this album! All prom pictures from here on out should aspire to be as cool as this one!
