Ears To The Street: Style Without Borders

October’s here and we’re finally feeling the effects of fall…time to layer up! Thankfully the runways this season were chock-full of inspiration; and no, we don’t have to spend the big bucks to look like the wealthy and glamorous.  One of my favorite things about this season are all the bold colors and tribal prints; giving us freedom to layer, and yes – it’s that simple.style without bordersEars To The Street: Style Without Borders. Balenciaga, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rodarte, and Christopher Kane are some of the designers that incorporated the global ethnic trend. By combining exotic and natural elements, this trend can be fun and extremely easy to pull off!! The key is to be free about it; don’t think about it too much.

This is an effortless look that many cultures have carried for years, don’t be afraid to mix and match bold Aztec prints with bright African colors (think M.I.A.)! Keep your base neutral or solid, and then add layers of colors and textures. If you’re afraid of adding more layers of clothing, incorporate the trend with accessories. Add a multi-patterned bag, (like the one from Yesstyle.com) to a white shirt and taupe high-waisted trousers. Feather earrings and tribal-print scarves are another simple addition –  it’s all about bright colors and fun prints – and having fun combining them.  Mixing colors, patterns and prints is not only daring, but eye-catching and interesting.

The point is to have fun with it! How else do you expect to be featured on The Sartorialist?! Work it!
