D&G, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, and Prada are just some of the names that come to mind when looking at these beautiful patterned knits. What started as a traditional knitting method by the ladies of Fair Isle, an island located off the Scottish coast, has now become a regular staple in our fall wardrobe.
I can look back at photos from my childhood, and some of my favorite outfits include a Fair Isle knit sweater of some sort; thanks mom! Intricate patterns, bold colors ans some jeans – I wish I still had them, I’d rock ’em all over again! No joke. Thankfully though retailers like Topshop, Modcloth and Madewell (to name a few), are catering to this lovely trend and I am swooning over some of these pieces. This Old Navy cardigan should be arriving at my doorstep in just a few days and although it was hard choosing between the colors, I opted for the grey one.
Ultimately though this trend is all about the patterns and colors, don’t limit yourself to sweaters; venture out to outerwear, hats, gloves and socks. And if you’re any good at searching, you can always head to the nearest Goodwill or try your luck on eBay!
