Backstage Beauty Trends At L.A.M.B.

L.A.M.B Beauty Looks at NYFW Spring 2011

Staying true to her “rude-girl” roots, Gwen Stefani chose a punked out, tribal pinup vibe for the beauty looks at L.A.M.B. this season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Charlotte Willer for Maybelline created crimson hued lips, an unconventional, smokey eye (using copper shades and YELLOW), and bold, winged out eyeliner. According to Willer: “It’s a tribal and punk look mixed together in a glamorous way. We’re pushing the limit, but still staying fabulous so that it’s not so outrageous that women can’t relate to it in any way. Contoured cheekbones enhanced the dimension of the deep red lips, and some models wore a lush glossy pink gloss instead.” L.A.M.B.’s Spring 2011 collection (a mashup of multi-ethnic prints, plaids, and tie-dye), paired perfectly with the hair looks as well, created by Gwen’s go-to-guy and personal hair stylist, Danilo. Consisting of large, randomly placed braids placed upon messy updo’s, the look was reminiscent of Gwen’s very own signature style. Said the stylist, “I’m really vibing on the multi ethnicity feel. Braids are Japanese, African American, German and found in so many other cultures. And it looks great on Gwen, we love incorporating braids into her red carpet and music video looks.” Nails (not shown) were a custom shade of dark blue; a concoction of four different hues by Creative Nail Design (Inkwell, Studio White, Anchor, and Speedy *the brand’s best-selling topcoat, used to add shine.)
