“A woman fierce in spirit, yet feminine. A beauty that shines through our mundane universe. A winged creature, bird of flight, mysterious seductress, fallen angel, entering our world and morphing into a mesmerizing being that astounds.”
Yesterday afternoon at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at The Box of Lincoln Center, I had the pleasure of viewing Yoana’s Baraschi’s Spring 2011 collection whereby this season was all about the fearless, free-spirited woman with style, grace and femininity at her core. Her collection had all vintage references from the 70s and 90s with a twist of youthfulness. The color palette had the ranges of sun-kissed shades of coral, lemon, lavender and aqua.
The Spring collection consist of a mixture of 70’s and 90’s sportswear classics reinvented with a modern touch of graphic prints, timeless florals, and animal prints. The concept inspired by the reminiscent of 70’s Romy Schneider of Gena Rowlands in John Cassavetes films. This is a strong collection as the pattern/ print combinations were paired hand in hand from polka dots with stripes to florals with plaid, the collection lends itself to a great addition to anyone’s closet. In particular, I was drawn to the printed patterns and pairing between knit sailor stripe blazer with rose stretch silk georgette; baroque floral print tank dress in silk georgette; and the silk caftan in hummingbird print paired with wide legs and platforms.
