Fat Beats

Fat Beats

♥♥ In this growing age of mp3, mp4, and other forms of digital downloads, record stores are slowly beginning to close their doors one by one. Adding to this growing trend, the iconic Fat Beats recently announced the closing of their New York and Los Angeles based stores in September. While many music lovers are still saddened by this news, Fat Beats is excited to present a send-off worthy of their hip-hop legacy. If you’re in NY, there is still time to catch some of the week-long celebration going on at Fat Beats that include a series of in-store performances, music industry panels, and special guest appearances. Check Fat Beats’ website for the complete schedule and updates. If you have time, stop in to say goodbye and always remember to support your local record stores!

Jared Evan

Jared Evan

♥♥ HBO’s hit series Entourage has become known not only for their exciting story-lines, but for the awesome track-list that accompanies every episode as well. The rock-inspired track that closed last week’s episode of “Entourage” came courtesty of Jared Evan. The single, “In Love With You” was produced by Polow Da Don and Jimmy Douglass. Check out the explosive video on youtube!

Runaway Love Remix

Runaway Love Remix

♥♥ It looks as if the Kanye West x Raekwon x Justin Beiber collaboration was not a joke after all. “Runaway Love (Remix)” actually happened and people actually love it! Listen to the song and download on Kanye’s blog.

Baths

Baths

♥♥ California beatmaker Baths debut album, Cerulean has all the ingredients to satisfy every ambient, down-tempo, and electronic music lover’s appetite. “Lovely Bloodflow” is one of the stand-out tracks and its seemingly big budget video certainly doesn’t disappoint either. In the visually stunning video that was directed by Alex Takacs and Joe Nankin, a wounded samurai staggers through a mythical forest, stopping to apparently die. His soul begins to exit his body, while creatures dressed in white try to give him his soul back, only to take it away again. Call me weird, but I’ve been obsessed with video! The hauntingly beautiful music fits the visuals perfectly.
