M.I.S.S. LFW: Acne Spring/Summer 2011

Details, details, details. That’s what kept going through my head as I looked through Acne’s Spring 2011 collection. It was really hard to choose which photos to include in this post, so bear with me as I’ve pretty much covered most, if not the entire collection! Jonny Johansson – the man behind Swedish fashion brand Acne, has simply – done it again! Although we’re used to Acne’s simple and edgy feel, this season shows a calmer, more feminine approach. At first glance it seems as if the brand’s lost its raw edge, but on the contrary, it’s ALL in the details.

I love the juxtaposition he creates by combining delicate fabrics such as silk, with sturdier ones like leather, and denim – together for one look. The collection seems to be full of layers and understated colors. Long sheer-silk shirts appear underneath cropped sweaters, subtly peeking through,  while long knit sweaters in bold-red are paired with like colors and layered in a way that’s not so predictable.

My favorites include a black leather jacket, studded with huge black pearls, (which I’d totally sport on the back of the boyfriend’s bike, of course!) the look is edgy and raw. While the pearls give it a softer, more feminine touch that’s also carried onto a minimal white long-sleeved dress that’s faintly reminiscent of the 70’s.

Another favorite would be the red “sports” jacket with zipper-pocket details, again – simple and effortless. My least favorites would have to be the wedges, which is a huge disappointment for me, as I LOVE Acne shoes. Oh well. Overall I found the collection to be very sophisticated; after all, it has to be when you’re showing in Princess Margaret’s old residence at Kensington Palace. Not bad Jonny, not bad at all.
