Just because we’re classy ladies here at M.I.S.S., doesn’t mean we can’t get down with some b-ball every now and then! As part of the buildup to the World Basketball Festival, Nike Sportswear organized a community basketball tournament that, while not quite on a global scale, pitted the five boroughs of New York in a head to head battle for supremacy.
Nike carefully selected five respected up-and-coming pillars of each borough to assemble a team for the tournament, which recently took place in New York (Queens ended up winning!). The sportswear company also, more interestingly, commissioned director BBGun to shoot five digital short films celebrating the legacy of basketball in each borough.
First up was a M.I.S.S. TV favorite, Theophilus London. Repping his home-grown borough of Brooklyn, the rapper took BBGun and Nike on a tour of what’s arguably the best borough.
Check out Nike’s 1LOVE digital short featuring Theophilus London below, and make sure to check back for the following shorts featuring Miss Banks, Corey Gunz, Emilio Sparks, and the folks from Format BMX shop as they share what makes the boroughs they grew up in unique.
