Last Wednesday, you may have heard California’s Prop 8 was overturned. This ruling struck down the ban on same-sex marriages in the state. Being a supporter of equal rights, gay marriage, and love, the issues surrounding Proposition 8 have been on watch by me and hopes of overturning the ban lay close to my heart. Hearing the news, I was ecstatic about this step toward recognizing same-sex rights and equality.
After I heard about the ruling, I went online to get the full scoop. I came upon the CNN article, complete with pictures. You know how they say a picture says a thousand words? These pictures sure live up to the saying. Joy and love come across in photos of couples, supporters, signs, and body language.
No matter where you stand on Prop 8 or same-sex marriage, pure emotion from people is moving. Looking at the pictures of people’s reactions from the overturn news, happiness, hope, excitement, and love are clear. The victory means a lot to so many, and you can see how much it matters just by catching a snapshot of those celebrating. Instead on saying more, I invite you to take a look at the pictures for yourself.
Let’s keep fighting for what matters to us, and celebrating our victories.
