♥♥ It seems as if one of the most highly anticipated parts of the film “Tron: Legacy” is not its cast or storyline, but rather the score which is being composed by the electronic duo Daft Punk. You might remember Kanye West sampling these guys for his track “Stronger” back in 2007, but Daft Punk hasn’t had a full-length release since 2005’s Human After All. You can preview 6 tracks from the film on radio station The End. Fans of Daft Punk have mixed reviews, but I personally think this is a match made in heaven!
♥♥ Wax Poetics No. 42: The R&B Issue has arrived! Just like Wax Poetics No. 41: The Hip Hop Issue, this very special issue has 2 covers. Barry White and D’Angelo adorn one cover, while Erykah Badu and Gil Scott-Heron grace the other. You can download and take a listen to the issue at Wax Poetics Digital. This is classic! Be sure to pick up your copies!
♥♥ D.C. rapper tabi Bonney premiered the video for his track “Nuthin But A Superhero” over the weekend. The JeromeD.com and 6ix Shoota directed video was shot in Washington, DC, Hollywood & Malibu. The track appears on Bonney’s mixtape release A Place Called Stardom. Check it out!
♥♥ The internet has been buzzing this past weekend with talk of Lupe Fiasco’s take on Rick Ross’ “B.M.F. (Blowing Money Faster).” In Lupe’s version of “B.M.F. (Building Minds Faster)”, he puts a positive spin on the track with a little name dropping from the likes of Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, and Marcus Garvey. It also looks as if the online petition to release his highly anticipated album Lasers has worked. Look at what Atlantic Records tweeted about it.
♥♥ If you’re unfamiliar with the “Bounce” scence, there is an amazing article in The New York Times about New Orleans’ gender-bending rap. In 2009, FADER Magazine interviewed Big Freedia, one of the superstars of the NOLA Bounce scene. Check it out!
♥♥ Mexican Summer’s latest artist Best Coast just released their much-awaited debut album, Crazy For You! This 12-track, twenty-nine minute collection of songs are summery, romantic, and dreamy. Surf-rock revivalists Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno have put together a classic!
♥♥ “What goes around, comes around” That’s the message in Lauryn Hill’s song “Repercussions.” This previously unreleased track is awesome and has everyone anxiously awaiting Lauryn Hill’s return!
♥♥ Are you following Kanye West on Twitter?
♥♥ Exile’s “Radio Bonus” album is available for free in honor of his AM/FM album dropping August 31st – which features Blu, Fashawn, Shafiq Husayn, Samiyam, Free The Robots, DJ Day, and many more!
