Kanye West at the 2010 BET Awards

♥♥ Mr. Kanye West took to his infamous blog to clear up the confusion about his gigantic chain and ring worn during his performance at the 2010 BET Awards.

Madlib Mystique

Madlib Mystique

♥♥ The elusive underground hip-hop producer Madlib gave his first U.S. interview in four years to LA Weekly. “The Madlib Mystique” is a great article and interview with the man behind the popular Medicine Show and Beat Konducta series.

Skullcandy x Roc Nation Aviators Presents: Rita Ora

♥♥ In the latest Skullcandy x Roc Nation webisode, we get a chance to meet Rita Ora. Rita is one of the newest members of Jay Z’s Roc Nation label. The 19-year-old songstress comes from Kosovo via West London and has previously worked with UK singer Craig David and also appeared in Jay Z’s music video for “Young Forever.” I’m curious to see what the future holds for Miss Ora!

Hannah & Beatr8

♥♥ How about a little soul from Sweden? Hanna & beatr8 is vocalist Hanna Olsson with production from Gothenburg based beat maker David Levisson aka Beatr8. Their single, “Flowers” is fuses r&b, jazz, and hip-hop together in a sound that inspired by their Nordic upbringing. Check it out!

The Making Of Aquemini

The Making Of Aquemini

♥♥ Outkast’s album, Aquemini has been described as the moment that Big Boi and Andre 3000 really began to define their own sound. For the twelfth anniversary of its release, Creative Loafing pays track-by-track homage with “The Making of OutKast’s Aquemini.” It features an extended breakdown on the making of Aquemini, featuring interviews with Andre 3000, Big Boi, Mr. DJ, Organized Noize mentor Rico Wade, and the numerous featured artists. Did you know that the “Rosa Parks” beat was originally submitted to Diddy for R&B group Total?

Da Brat

Da Brat

♥♥ “One for the money. Two for the bass. Three to get ya going, ’cause Da Brat’s in the place!” This week’s throwback video comes from Da Brat, who’s currently serving a three year prison sentence for a 2007 “incident” at an Atlanta-area nightclub. If my calculations are correct, Da Brat should be home soon and will hopefully be hitting the studio again. In the meantime, get out your “Free Da Brat” t-shirts and enjoy a classic tune from her 1994 album, Funkdafied. How many celebrity cameos can you spot in the “Give It 2 You?”
